We’re kicking off a brand new show! Lycoris Recoil won the poll fair and square, so here we are—starting fresh.

We literally know almost nothing about this one. I have one tiny vague idea from something I saw online, but it’s not a spoiler—nothing bad, I promise! Just a little hint about the genre or vibe that popped up everywhere when I looked it up. Some of you in the comments probably know exactly what I mean. (laughs) But I’m keeping it mysterious for now.

We’ll watch the first two episodes and see how the vibes hit. If something clicks and makes me go ‘Ohhh, that’s what it is,’ maybe I’ll share then. No big deal either way.

Quick facts we do know: 13 episodes main season, plus some side story/OVA thing that’s separate. And Lycoris—those spider lilies—symbolize death and rebirth, which fits a lot of anime themes we’ve seen.

Alright, enough teasing—let’s jump in!

(Post-reaction)

These first two episodes? Whew—Chisato’s reflexes are insane! Dodging bullets like it’s nothing, barely moving, walking up to a guy with a machine gun like it’s casual Friday. Takina testing her by throwing stuff when she’s not paying attention—and she still dodges? Time moves slower for her or something? Wild.

The Lycoris setup is super cool—DA as the main branch, Lycoris Recoil as the café-fronted orphan girl squad (all girls for camouflage?). Alan Institute/Academy scoops up talented kids (often from tough situations), trains them, offers housing/food—sounds helpful on the surface, but shady vibes with Walnut.

Why’s Alan so obsessed with taking out Walnut? Rival hacker? She rejected recruitment, so now they want her gone? And that Mr. Yoshi guy—high up at Alan, but casually out in the open with the symbol? Weird. Walnut thinks they don’t usually kill, so this feels off-brand for them. Maybe it’s not public knowledge, or it’s a facade—academy by day, something corrupt underneath.

And Chisato—why’s Yoshi so fixated on her? Genius in her field too? Wants to recruit her? He knows Mika from way back, so probably circles overlap. The Tokyo Tower event might’ve put her on his radar.

Walnut hiring the DA for protection after her location leaked—separate from Alan’s hit, but everything’s connected somehow. Robot hacker working with Alan to track her? Messy.

Loving the character clash already—Chisato’s sunshine energy vs. Takina’s seriousness. Café life mixed with secret agent stuff? Peak.
